Morning Arrival Procedures
Students can be dropped off between 7:30 – 7:50 AM. Parents may use the Morningside Drive and Silver Street entrance. Please remember there are double yellow lines and you may not pass. As you approach the entrance, please alternate cars as you enter into a single line next to the curb. Once in the “Unloading Zone,” students need to exit the car on the curbside as quickly as possible. Please make sure your children are sitting on the passenger side to facilitate movement of the line and ensure their safety. Staff and safety patrol members will assist students to the cafeteria. Once your child has exited your vehicle, you may use the left lane to exit.
Inside the School
Once inside, students will sit in designated areas by grade levels until 8:00 AM. At that time, the teachers will meet their students and walk them to the classrooms and begin preparing for the day.
Buses will arrive at KES using the Township Road 114 Entrance from 7:30 – 7:50 AM and will unload in the back of the building. This entrance is for school buses only! No vehicles are permitted in the Bus Zone. (Staff use designated parking spaces.) Staff members will be present to supervise students as they walk to their designated grade level area.
Afternoon Dismissal Procedures
When picking up your child, parents should arrive between 2:30 – 2:40 PM. In order to facilitate dismissal and to reduce traffic back up, parents need to use Morningside Drive and turn in the first entrance to the school. Please remain in a single line along the curb until you reach the “loading zone,” which will be designated by color cones. Car riders will wait in the cafeteria until their car arrives at the loading zone. It is essential that the KES “Hang Tag” be displayed on the rear view mirror so personnel can see the tag number. Students will exit through the front doors and stand behind designated cones and supervised by staff who will dismiss them to their cars and help them inside and ensure their safety.
It is important to pull all the way forward and have your students enter on the passenger side of your vehicle to facilitate movement of the line.
Each family will be issued three free hang tags with the same number. If you lose, misplace, or need a fourth hang tag, the cost will be $2.50. You can give hang tags to anyone who will be picking up your child.
Due to safety, security, and privacy reasons, parents picking up their children during the dismissal process are encouraged to remain outside of the building, unless signing them out. Please use one of the methods above to better ensure the safety and privacy of our students. Thank you for your cooperation.
For the safety of the students, please do not wait until the last minute to change your child’s method of transportation. This becomes too confusing and mistakes can be made. Please write a note to your child’s teacher indicating a change in transportation.
We will not be able to make any transportation changes after 12:00 PM.

Only one bus pick up and one drop off location is permitted.
Permanent changes for pick up/drop off addresses must be made at least three days in advance.
Breakfast is FREE to all children and is served in their classroom. Instruction will start promptly at 8:00 AM.
