Fall Scholastic Book Fair

Wild West Book Fair

Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our school.  It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level.  Last school year, we sold 4,632 books resulting in 833,760 reading minutes!  Reading for pleasure unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are.  Here’s what you can do to help children develop stronger reading skills and a love for reading:

  • Set the example.  Let children see you read.
  • Have a collection of books in your home.  Update this collection routinely to keep up with changing tastes and reading skills.
  • Support our school’s Book Fair.  Allow your children to choose their own books to read.

Please make plans to visit our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child’s reading habits!

Book Fair Dates:  November 1st – November 10th

Firefighter Phil Visits KES

On Wednesday, October 11th, the Firefighter Phil program visited Kenton Elementary School.

The Firefighter Phil program taught students about fire prevention, fire safety, and respect for authority figures.

It also encouraged positive behavior like honesty, friendship, being a buddy – not a bully, civic responsibility, and knowing what to do in an emergency.

Special thanks to the Kenton Fire Department for making a special appearance during the program.

Student Led Parent/Teacher Conferences – November 1st and November 2nd

Student Led Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Wednesday, November 1st from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Thursday, November 2nd from 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM.

This is an opportunity for parents, students, and teachers to share successes, accomplishments, and/or concerns.

We believe students can accomplish high academic goals when parents play an active role in the education of their children.

If you have not scheduled a conference yet, but would like to attend, please contact the school office at 419-673-7248.

Here are some ideas to make the conference a valuable experience:

  • Write down any questions or concerns you may already have.
  • During the conference, take notes.
  • Please try to be on time to your conference so you have plenty of time for discussion.
  • Please call the school office if you are unable to make your scheduled time.
  • If at all possible, leave younger siblings at home so you may focus solely on your school age child’s successes and/or concerns.  It is their day to shine!
