Be a HERO, Not a Bully!

All Kenton Elementary School students are invited to wear their favorite superhero shirts to school on Friday, October 14th as we celebrate being a school of HEROS!

Students are also welcome to create superhero and anti-bullying signs and bring them in that day as we will be taking pictures and creating our very own Kenton Elementary School HERO video.

First Grade Visits Althauser’s Farm

On September 21st and September 22nd, first grade classes traveled to the Althauser’s Farm to learn more about living things.  The farm had stations set up for the students to learn about different seasonal activities and jobs on the farm.

At one station, the students explored the pumpkin patch and picked a pumpkin to take home.  At another station, the students learned about honeybees and beekeepers.  Then, the students tasted real honey from the Althauser Farm.  At a third station, the students listened to Mr. Althauser explain how to pick apples from an apple orchard and then watched him make apple cider.  Finally, the students enjoyed a taste of apple cider.

The weather for the field trip was beautiful on both days and the students had a lot of fun learning about pumpkins, apples, and bees!

Kenton Elementary School PTO Cash Raffle Fall Fundraiser


Beginning Monday, September 19th until Tuesday, October 11th, KES PTO is asking students to sell chance tickets for our Cash Raffle Fall Fundraiser.  Proceeds raised will go back to KES PTO to pay for student field trips and other student activities and incentives.

Tickets will be sold – $10 per ticket – for the chance to win the following prizes:

  • 1st prize:  $2000
  • 2nd prize:  $1000
  • 3rd prize:  $750
  • 4th prize:  $500
  • 5th prize:  $250
  • 6th – 10th prize:  $100 each

Raffle winners will be drawn on Tuesday, October 18th.


  • On Monday, September 19th, students received an envelope containing 5 raffle tickets.
  • Students should return ticket stubs and money (cash or checks made to:  KES PTO) in the envelope provided.
  • After the initial 5 raffle tickets are sold and you desire additional tickets to sell, please indicate on the envelope that you would like additional tickets.
  • No more than 10 tickets will be given out to any student at a time.
  • All tickets and money must be returned, in the envelope provided, to the school by Tuesday, October 11th.
  • Please return any unsold raffle tickets.

Student Prizes:

  • Grade Prizes:  iPad Mini, Nintendo 3DS, or a Drone – will be given to the TOP 3 overall sellers in the school.
  • Top seller (Top 3 overall – not eligible) per grade will receive a prize.
  • Any student who sells $150 and over will receive a prize (Top 3 overall and top seller per grade – not eligible).
  • Top selling class for EACH grade will also receive a prize.


September Character Award

The criteria for the monthly character award is based on students displaying attributes that include virtues such as Leadership, Integrity, Caring, Respect, Responsibility, Determination, Willpower, Trustworthiness, Fairness, Empathy, Citizenship, and Compassion.

September’s virtue is Integrity.  The Leader in Me Habit is Paradigms and Principles.
