5th Grade Music Program

Music Notes

The Kenton Elementary School fifth grade students will present their musical on Thursday, February 25th at 7:00 PM.  The Dress Rehearsal will be approximately 8:30 AM in the Kenton Elementary School Cafetorium that same day.  Parents or grandparents who work evenings are invited to attend the morning Dress Rehearsal.

Students should begin to arrive at Kenton Elementary School on Thursday, February 25th around 6:30 PM and go to their classrooms.  PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW SO THAT ALL STUDENTS IN FIFTH GRADE GENERAL MUSIC AT KENTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ARE IN ATTENDANCE.

The program is called, “We Haz Jazz!”  It explores the history of America’s own music of jazz from New Orleans to Chi-Town, from cotton fields to the Cotton Club with jazz greats like Fats Waller, Cab Calloway, Benny Goodman, Billie Holiday, and Thelonius Monk.

COSTUMES:  Costumes are very simple – just wear bright, jazzy, school-appropriate clothes!  You do not need to go buy something new!  Just wear whatever your child has in his/her closet!  (You can always have your student wear his/her Kenton Elementary School t-shirt!)  The important thing is to make sure your student comes and joins in on all the fun!  Some special costumes for speaking parts will be provided.  Please ask your child if they have a special part that needs a special costume.

As an added bonus this year, if 100% of all Mrs. Sheldon’s or Mr. Georgeson’s fifth graders are in attendance, those students will receive a treat party during their next music class.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

SPECIAL NOTE:  THIS IS THE CORRECT TIME – PLEASE DISREGARD THE TIME ON THE FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER.
